Elasticsearch Support Services FAQ

Published July 2022

Our team of engineers has been architecting, optimizing, and managing Elasticsearch for over 6 years.  We’ve found that there are common questions that new clients have about Elasticsearch support services.

Below is a list of a few of the most common questions inquiring new clients have when they reach out.  Let us know if you have any questions not covered here.

Part A: Technical Questions

Can you help us decrease our cloud costs?

Yes, through optimizing the cluster and queries.

We are encountering Elasticsearch scaling issues. Can you help?

We routinely scale and optimize Elasticsearch for companies to receive, process, and store large amounts of data.  We can also set up auto-scaling events for automated responses to increases in traffic.

Our Elasticsearch cluster is missing data.  Can you help us troubleshoot where the data loss is occurring?

Yes, we can help with all stages of your data pipeline.

Elasticsearch is having issues after an upgrade.  Can you help us?

Yes, we’ve resolved update issues for many clients, some of which had creative pipelines.

Can you assist with an Elasticsearch upgrade?

Yes, we can work with your team to ensure a smooth and successful upgrade.

Can you help us with Elasticsearch geo-replication?

Yes, we can set up Elasticsearch geo-replication.

Can you help with Elasticsearch implementations under ITAR, HIPAA, and PCI?

Do you offer Elasticsearch training?

Yes, we can train your staff on best practices for using and maintaining the Elastic Stack with a focus on the intricacies of your specific implementation / use case.

Can you assist with Elasticsearch running on Kubernetes?

Yes, our team members have extensive experience with implementing, optimizing, and supporting Elasticsearch on K8s. Sometimes Kubernetes’ built-in automation can break Elasticsearch.  Attention needs to go into adjusting settings in K8s to help it play nice with the Elastic Stack.

Do you support Elasticsearch on AWS?  Azure?  GCP?  On-prem?

Yes, we support Elasticsearch on your environment, whether in the cloud or on-premise.

Part B: How Elasticsearch consulting engagements work

If I hire Dattell will I get a dedicated solution architect or someone different depending on the day?

We always provide you with a dedicated Elasticsearch expert to become an extended member of your team and provide personalized Elastic Stack assistance from start to finish. You will meet your solution architect before the engagement starts to ensure a good fit.

How will we communicate and work with Dattell?

Your assigned solution architect will work with you through your team’s preferred messaging system, such as Slack or Microsoft Teams, video calls, email, text, and/or phone calls.  Your assigned engineer can VPN into your system, you can provide a company laptop, or we can strategize another way to work together if neither of those work for your use case.

What are your response times?

We strive to respond to all client inquiries in under 10 minutes. We guarantee incident response times within 30-minutes for Priority 1 issues for our fully managed Elasticsearch clients. All issues, no matter how small, are guaranteed a response within 3-business hours for all of our Elasticsearch clients.

Are there caps on monthly Elasticsearch incidents?

No, we do not have a cap on incidents for Elasticsearch support or any of our other services.

Part C: Additional Elasticsearch Resources

We have many articles on our blog about the fundamentals of Elasticsearch.  Here are a few post that our clients have found particularly helpful.

Benefit from the experience of our Kafka, Pulsar, Elasticsearch, and OpenSearch expert services to help your team deploy and maintain high-performance platforms that scale. We support Kafka, Elasticsearch, and OpenSearch both on-prem and in the cloud, whether on stand alone clusters or running within Kubernetes. We’ve saved our clients $100M+ over the past six years. We typically save clients multiples more money than our fees cost in addition to building, optimizing, and supporting fault-tolerant, highly available architectures.
